New Dance Videos

31 Mar

Hey,  Two new videos to share. I decided to stop letting the routines I record grow cob webs on my camcorder and upload them to the internet:::-) Keep posted for new videos.

For me

30 Mar

We all have these days, and I could say today, I’m feeling the hit of the, whats going on blues? the what should I do blues?….Funny enough I know what to do and I know that everything will be OK, however I can’t lie and say, I don’t get frustrated and or impatient at times.

The answer that I have for myself is be patient:::-)

What am I being patient for, well first, I don’t want to get caught up with this feeling of being down and looe focus and not give thanks for what is taking place in my life and around me, second, when you plant the seed….it takes weeks before you see a little stub sticking out of the earth, then it takes months and or years before you start to see the results of the seed you planted. Finally you see the tree, and or the plant, you see branches leaves, the colours and all the beauty of what you planted…

Thats what I’ve told myself and today that is what I’m telling myself, Continue to water the seed you planted, continue to give it sunlight, even when it rains protect that seed and or that plant, by nurturing it.

So at this time, I’m feeling like …..blahhhhhhh….But I know, I just have to go through this feeling to get to the other part of growth, nurture my mind with positive thoughts and people and continue to water the plant…:)

As much as I’m sharing this with you, it’s for me, it’s to tell myself that I know things are tough at times, but there is much to be thankful for and to continue practicing patience….

I’m still feeling a little Blahhhh, but I feel better, alot better…

Dance Showcase

29 Mar

Heres a few pictures from the “Sex Degrees  dance showcase” I did last week. I really enjoyed that show, usually after a performance I’m looking for the footage,  I had another dancer record the performance for me, so I didn’t have to run around to get the footage.

This performance is all about the the Dominatrix women.

Special thanks to dancers: Ashley Brodeur, Lindsay Tompkins, Amy Taylor and Emma Bart.

Here is the video clip.

What defines you as a person.

29 Mar

What defines you?

Is it who you know, the degrees you have, the shoes you wear,  or the money you have?

Is it whats on your resume,  the places you’ve been, and the people you know?

Do you smile with someone because you know of there status, or do you smile simply because it is a joy, a joy that has no financial cost?

Is it a waste of time to just be, without expectations and a planned persona, is that too bare, does that bare you down to your soul to just be?

We all have insecurities, does your insecurity drive you bring another down, to feed your thriving ego?

Do you choose who you respect…, really do you choose who you respect?

Do you need validation to your presence?

The things we’ve been blessed with and blessed to have accomplished are things and not who we are. I do not think there is a single definition of me, what I feel and believe is we need to treat each other the way we would like to be treated regardless of status, gender, roles, etc.

What I do, have been blessed to do and want to do, I know is only a small percentage to my full being, What I know I’m not, is an image depicted through pictures, video’s, clothes, performances, people I know. If my personality is to be judged it would be judged off of, how I treat you for you, not the you that is larger than life,  for who you know and where you’ve been, but you…., without the entourage of things and people.

Like always let me know what you think.

Heres a few Quotes on Creativity and Imagination

29 Mar

Dancing and Choreography calls on for each dancer and choreographer to use there imagination and creativity to take them places, tell a story and bring life to movement.

Remember Thriller, perfect example. Not only was this a creative idea, but it called for everyone to use there imaginations and bring the vision to life.  At that time, who would have thought that having the dead come alive and dance will have such an impact on music and video historythriller

At the same time what we see here today and everyday is built off of creativity and imagination.

I found some great quotes on creativity and imagination. After you read let me know what you think about them.

“Our Imagination is the only limit to what we hope to have in the future” Charles F. Kettering (1876-1958)

“Imagination is the Beginning of Creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last you create what you will.” George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

There is only one admirable form of the imagination: The imagination that is so intense that it creates a new reality, that it makes things happen.” Sean O’ faolain (1900-1991)

“Observe Everthing, Communicate Well, Draw, Draw, Draw” Frank Thomas: Disney Animator

“To live a creative life we must lose our fear of being wrong” Joseph Chilton Pearce

“Every Child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up” Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

“The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture, clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.Dee Hock

All of these quotes were taking from Quotations page. Here is the link.

 What Do I think?

I thrive off imagination and Creativity. There was a point when I let all ideas go, and thought nothing of it. Now I write them down, whenever something new comes to me, even if it makes no sense, I still write it down. The time will come when it does makes sense. I’m at a point where I enjoy being creative, putting things together, and exploring new ways to do things, it’s exciting. I think kids are famous for using there imagination and letting it run wild, now that I’m older it’s just as important to allow my imagination to run wild. Could you imagine what the world would be like without creativity and imagination…lets see…. no roller coasters, no movies, no music, no fashion…:( Lets stop there…Life would be simply boring.

Once again let me know what you think. How often do you use your creativity and imagination? when ideas come to you, do you put them aside and carry on, or do you try and bring them to life?

Freestyle to me is the essence of dance.

It is different from choreography as choreography is a story and putting movements together. I think everyone could freestyle. How good are you at freestyling is the question. How creative are you to wip out technique, tricks, and movementst that are unique and fluid is a different story and takes time and practice.

If you have a urge to dance, chances are you could freestyle, thats what dancing is, the last time I checked, dancing evolved, it started off as a social thing, different cultures have there own type of social dancing. When you hear music you move, thats freestyle, you are not thinking your just doing what your body wants to do naturally,  how comfortable you are, being who you are, and doing what you do all comes out in freestyle. Choreography is seperate from freestyle.

I love to freestyle it’s freedom. Instead of thinking I can’t freestyle, just dance, thats what it is, know what it feels like to just dance…dancing is not choreography…they are under the same house but have seperate rooms.

Someone could be a crazy dancer and awesome at freestyle, but have a hard time picking up choreography, that does not determine if they are a good dancer or not, all it means is that they have a hard time picking up choreography and retaining it. It just so happens that in the commercial dance industry choreography is vital. Someone could be crazy at picking up choreography, that does not constitute how could of a dancer they are, they are good at picking up choreography and executing the moves. What constitutes a good dancer. Well it’s all in what you are looking for, some people say it’s the training and some say it’s freestyle or the expression and emotion that comes from within and added to the moves.

The word Free means? Not imprisoned or enslaved; being at liberty. Taking form

The word Style means? The combination of distinctive features of literary or artistic expression, execution, or performance characterizing a particular person, group, school, or era. Taking from

Freestyle does not mean how good you are at it, it means how you move within yourself, your style, your creative being. When you look up the meaning of freestyle, you find a variety, they all come back to improvising, there are no rules, unless the judges or someone gives a rule. Don’t put a rule to how you freestyle, let your creative mind run free. Then start thinking, how coud I make myself execute the moves cleaner? how could I learn more moves to put into my freestyle? Then thats when its time to start taking classes, and or learning tricks from gymnastics, break dancing etc.

I love freestyle, thats what got me into wanting to be a better dancer, I still freestyle and will always freestyle.

No one likes to be judged and often the times most dancers are called to freestyle is at a competition or audition when there skills are laid out for the approval of others. Which as nothing to do with you freestyling but more to do with your skill level, how you look, your personality etc.Don’t let the opinion of others stop you from enjoying something great.

Just dance….Choreography is great, but just turn on the music and dance…

Heres a clip of me dancing it’s also on my website, this is a freestyle, I went into the studio, with the idea that I’m going to work on my freestyle and record it. It’s just me doing what I love to do.

Another video to watch is the sweet nothings choreography located in the  Dance classes tab. This choreography was done within an hour. I went in the studio with the dancers, I freestyled the moves and put them together. Here is the link.

Like always please leave a comment, your thoughts are more than welcomed.

Surround yourself with good people

27 Mar

“Show me your friends and I’ll tell you the type of person you are.”

This was told to me when I was a teenager, It never left me. And I mean never….

What do you think?

Ok, I’m really going to bed now.::)

Fatima Robinson

27 Mar

Hey I thought I should share this. Fatima Robinson, she is an amazing choreographer. She has just launched her website, a great place for dancers, and the those with a creative mind. I haven’t explored the site as yet. I went on the site and briefly looked at the content.

Fatima Robinson is one of the many Choreographers I look at and admire. What I like about her is the fact that she carries herself with such grace, style and elegance. She is a women, a black women, and I say this not focus on race but to focus on an image that is not often seen in the media, however it is improving, I appreciate the work that she has put out, and she has been in this industry for quite a while.

Of course there are many other choreographers and dancers that inspire me. Right now there are a few ladies on my site that I had the chance to speak with. Here is the link.

For now here is the link to Fatimas website me know what you think, I’ll go on the site within a few hours, first I need to rest.

I like to think that I’m a patient person, however I know this goes up and down and around and around at times.

There are days when my patience for things, people and life are truly tested, and after everything is said and done, I ask myself was I patient or did I rush, or try to push the situation ahead so that things go the way I want them to. The answer to that is both. Sometimes I’m able to let life take the time it needs to answer the questions I’m not sure of, sometimes, I let life deal with situations and or people I know I cannot deal with.

And there are times when I’m like OK, this is taking too long, hurry up, hurry up.

I’ve been learning that not only is it important to be patient, its also important to enjoy the between stages of waiting and receiving. There’s so much to learn and experience while being patient and calm. Of course this changes or gets complicated when the situation is life or death or of extreme importance. But in someways it applies because once your patient and calm you are able to think clearly, so that you are able to do what you need to do effectively.

For the past few days I’ve truly had to practice patience, and I know that patience is something I will probably never master but continue to practice so that I may get better at it. I’ve had to relax and trust that the goals I’ve set for myself will get accomplished, not to rush for certain things because of my excitement or because of deadlines. I’ve had to practice patience with those I’m working with, the new people I come across everyday, I’ve had to practice patience with what is now called the Recession.  I’m pretty sure I’m not perfect, and I know others practice patience with me.

Whatever your doing in life, if you are waiting on the bus, waiting on a call back for an audition, waiting for your dancers or choreographers to get to rehearsal on time, learning something new, learning choreography, or waiting in line etc. Whatever it may be practice being patient, not to be a walk over, but to be able to deal with the situation clearly and effectively.

I don’t like to yell, or raise my voice, I tell others exactly what the situation is and how it affected the current situation and what needs to be changed or continued to improve the situation, I do this by practicing patience and remaining calm, I could yell that’s easy, but to remain calm and patient takes allot of effort. Remind you this is something I had to learn and practice. I was the girl in High School that was pretty relaxed, but if you messed with my performance on stage or take too long to Que the music I would erupt like a volcano, I’m not lieing. I had to improve this behaviour, because I’m not a kid anymore, I’m an adult, with professional and personal responsibilities.

Patience, Practice it, the benefits are great.

Let me know what you think…what are your thoughts.

Materials Ordered

25 Mar

Great News.

I ordered the Can Fit Pro Fitness Instructor course material, and the study guide yesterday. This will help me prepare for the actual in class course and prepare for the actual exam.

Because it is important to know and understand the material, I will read the material, then take the course, then the exam.

I have not recieved the material as yet, I was told it will take approximately 10 business days.

So after I recieve it, depending on the workload, I’m giving myseld two weeks to complete it, then take the course.

Stay posted. Let me know if you have any suggestions, tips and or advice.
